Yokl (extra)
Yokl is a local discovery platform built to help people discover, visit, and support the places that make our communities feel like home. Whether you're exploring your own town or visiting Hershey, PA for the first time, Yokl helps you find places you'll remember, return to, and recommend. Alongside the directory, Yokl runs curated local food tours aboard Lulu, a vintage-style red trolley - part food crawl, part local love letter.
What exactly is a Yokl food tour?
It's part food crawl, part local love letter. You hop on our vintage-style red trolley, Lulu, and we take you on a guided tasting adventure through some of the best locally owned spots in Central PA. You'll meet the makers, hear their stories, sample their specialties, and explore the town in a whole new way.
How long is the tour?
Most food tours last about 2.5 to 3 hours and include 3-4 stops for tastings, stories, and small-town charm. We keep things moving, but not rushed, so you have time to enjoy every bite.
What kind of food can we expect?
Each tour is unique, but expect a mix of sweet, savory, sippable, and surprising. From homemade meatballs and artisan popcorn to chocolate-covered bacon or custom ice cream flights, we showcase the most creative local menus. We also offer alcohol-free options and can accommodate most dietary restrictions with advance notice.
Where do tours typically start and end?
Tours typically begin and end at the Hershey History Center or another centralized location depending on the theme. You will receive full details when you book.
Can I book a private tour for my group?
Absolutely. We love hosting birthday parties, team outings, bridal showers, family reunions, and bachelorette adventures. Our trolley seats up to 25 guests comfortably (28 if you all know each other), and we can create a fully customized itinerary that fits your vibe.
Can kids come on a food tour?
Yes. Most of our tours are family-friendly unless otherwise noted (like pub crawls). Kids love Lulu, and many of our stops include sweet treats and fun experiences they'll remember.
Is Lulu the Trolley handicap accessible?
Our trolley does have steps to board, but we're happy to assist guests who need help getting on and off. If someone in your group uses a wheelchair or has other accessibility needs, please reach out and we'll do everything we can to accommodate.
What is immersion marketing?
Immersion marketing is the practice of surrounding people with a brand experience so they don't just learn about it, they live it. For Yokl, that means you don't just hear about a great place, you walk in the door.
So are you a tour company or a marketing company?
Both, and neither in the traditional sense. The trolley tours are the vehicle, but the goal is deeper: helping local entrepreneurs tell their stories, attract new customers, and strengthen their roots in the community.
Why focus on local businesses?
Because they are the backbone of every thriving town. Local businesses keep more money in the community, create more jobs, give more to local causes, and build the kind of unique places people want to live in and visit.
